Not only among all golf clubs, but also it is the highest lofted wedge. Wedges are designed to shot the ball at a short distance. So, the higher loft can make the shot more effective. Lob wedge has a loft around 60-65 degrees. The maximum distance is also shorter than the other types of the wedge.
Other wedge types like sand, gap, pitching wedge has a loft around 44-58 degrees. While the lob wedge has a high angle loft. It is much different than the hybrid because of the launch angle variety.
Though a golf club is totally made of metal, manufacturers design the club so accurately that it can give a variance in performance. The loft is another factor for any golf club. Loft Of Different Clubs

- Pitching wedge: Almost every golfer uses it; also a traditional club in golf. It has a loft around 44-50 degrees. It is the lowest loft angle among the wedge family. So, it gives more distance to the ball.
- Gap wedge: It is named gap because it fills the gap between pitching and sand wedge. It has a loft angle between 46 to 54 degrees. Also, the ball’s distance reduces a little bit.
- Sand Wedge: This type of wedge is special for hitting the ball in the sand. The sand wedge has a loft angle around 54-58 degrees. Its maximum distance is almost 90 degrees. It is much lower than the pitching and sand wedge.
- Lob wedge: As we said earlier, lob wedge has the highest loft angle among all wedges. It has a loft around 60-65 degrees. And the range is also lower than the other wedges. The lob wedge is perfect to launch the ball higher.
The golf putter’s loft is the lowest among all golf clubs. It has a very little loft angle; a maximum of 4.5 degrees. So the ball cannot fly higher. The golf ball rolls in the green. Obviously, putters have the lowest launch angle. Putters are widely used to push the ball to the hole. So, it doesn’t need any loft feature.
Fairway Wood’s Loft
Wood’s or fairway wood’s loft varies according to the number. Though it is specially designed to play distance shots, so the loft is not so high. The maximum loft angle of any fairway wood is 31 degrees. It doesn’t cross the limit. 3 wood has a loft angle around 13-16 degrees and 5 wood is 18-21 degrees.
A hybrid club is the combination of iron and wood basically. Players use this type of club to replace iron or wedge in the bag. It is also famous among professional golfer. The loft angle is around 22 degrees. Whatever, this number is enough to play the perfect shot.
Only lob wedge has the highest launch angle among all the golf clubs. The more the loft, the launch angle will increase at the same rate. That could easily launch the ball higher. Before buying a club for you, make sure about the club loft and launch angle obviously.
